Management blames the fire alarm company and does nothing.) Plus walls are paper thin, so you'll hear everything your neighbors say or do. (You'll also need to replace all of the shades if you plan to sleep past 6am.) 3) Unresponsive. Management is hard to reach and unhelpful when you do reach them. It's clear their business model is to stall as long as possible to either (a) reduce costs or (b) push out rent controlled tenants. 4) Unethical. Rent control sounds nice until you realize after a year they will do everything they can to get you to move out. Their business model is making rent controlled tenants miserable. This is clearly illegal.
