This is a terrible place to live. Management knows that people are constantly breaking into the building to steal mail and open locks in the storage unit but aren’t taking any meaningful action beyond contracting a useless rent a cop security company that are barely available and don’t do anything besides stand around with their hands in the pockets. I can’t even get them to install some cheap flood lights to deter people from prying the door open after night. A few weeks ago a lady was in the stairwell screaming and banging against the wall. The way things are going, it’s a matter of time until one of the residents gets assaulted or this place burns down. If you decide to move here, keep a paper trail. I’m leaving two stars because there’s an elevator that’s only broken down once and a treadmill that turns on, even if the display is broken.

Good location. For those currently living there, know that they will take your security deposit. We were required to repaint our apartment at the end of our lease. After numerous inquiries, the leasing company refused to give us the correct paint color. We repaired all nail holes and repainted over them, but were charged for repainting the entire apartment because it was not the correct paint color. $600 for repainting a 300 square foot apartment!!!

Very fair rental rates and strict income requirements and limits on units which are made available for people of modest incomes. Units are made available on line to pre qualified applicants on a first come first choice on a unit so no endless lists. We have a very diverse population in age, race, working folks, and those on fixed incomes. It is located in a vibrant cool neighborhood close to public transportation, many services, and shopping/restaurants. I love the Melrose!
