About 25 miles north of Seattle is Everett, Washington, home of the Boeing Company's largest manufacturing and assembly plant. Thanks to the company's presence, aircraft manufacturing is the largest industry in the area, followed by health care, casino gaming, government, and education. The Everett area is also the home of the Everett Naval Station, so it's a military-friendly town, too. Located in downtown Everett is Funko, a company that makes cute pop culture collectibles.
Everett is teeming with must-do activities. Hockey fans can get tickets to a Silvertips game, the city's own junior ice hockey team that's part of the Western Hockey League. The Schack Art Center isn't only a museum full of remarkable collections of artwork; it also offers classes in all types of art forms so that you can create your own. Bring the kids to downtown Everett for the Imagine Children's Museum, which has a ton of interactive exhibits. Don't forget about the Hibulb Cultural Center and Natural History Preserve, where you can learn about the Tulalip tribes' history and culture.
But Everett wouldn't be a city in the Pacific Northwest if there weren't plenty of outdoor recreation opportunities. You can stick close to the town and head to Howarth Park, on the western part of town along the Possession Sound, the smaller body of water that flows from the Puget Sound just southwest. Everett is on the western edge of the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, where you can go hiking, mountain biking, fishing, camping, skiing and snowboarding when it snows, and much more. Olympic National Forest is only a ferry, boat, or car ride away from your home in Everett.
