I have been living here for over 4 months and am very happy with the experience. Excellent maintenance staff, very responsive and friendly. The place is cheaper than a lot of other apartments in the area and utilities other than internet are included. When I moved in they put in a microwave in the apartment that someone had left on my request which was really nice. Also, had a new shower curtain; small things but they matter. And multiple entrances to the building, which is cool. And they have a six month lease, which is very convenient, easier when changing jobs.

I had a short, but great stay at Central Apartments. If you are looking for a unit at a good price and in a good location you can't beat Central Apartments. My previous experience with rent-controlled units was that they were lazily maintained, close to crime and often have endless problems. Central Apartments set a whole new standard. Max the building manager is very responsive and happy to help with even odd requests. For example, I had the nice led lights the unit came with replaced with traditional bulbs so I could use my smart lights. In terms of service, it was better than even the luxury buildings in the city I've stayed in. What really sold me on Central Apartments initially was when being shown a unit I was warned during the showing that the stairs could be annoying. To demonstrate Ken (person giving the tour that day) stomped up the steps while I was in the unit. He was right the stairs were annoying and I went with a different unit. This level of honesty isn't something I've seen throughout the city and Central Apartments is consistently good about being straightforward and helpful. So in short if you live in SOMA and want a nice place to live that is cheap (compared to other sf units) than Central Apartments is hard to beat.
