I’ll be honest, when I moved from under the security of my mother with a young child, I truly didn’t think I could do it. I had absolutely nothing saved, I was kicked out at 18, and accrued an insurmountable amount of debt that both came from poor money management, but too from hardship that required me to give more than I had to give. My credit was shot, yet I couldn’t deny, and I will preface by saying I’m a woman of God, (an imperfect HUMAN woman of God at that), and yet with all of the things stacked against me, God made a way, not only for me, but for my sister in christ who too was on her own. Yet we were never alone. The whole way we prayed and asked for direction. We even thought we knew exactly where we wanted to be, then God spoke into me, “Let me show you one more.” Creekside Villas was the last one. I didn’t want to love it, haha. That is honest. It was a gloomy day and the complex was under renovation, yet God was clear with me last year during prayer that the place he was preparing at that time, was the place I was in now. It really came down to the details, and the last being him saying very clearly, “The Land of Milk and Honey.” I now have the eyes to see and the confidence to tell you, many have moved in and stayed because although there are many choices around Houston, not many have the integrity. Not many even have the heart to honor the fact that most if not all of us are struggling to get by. We are all weary, yet this is where I found rest. This is the place where God has been able to dwell with me. We have been kept safely guarded under the refuge of his wing. It is full of life here. Many families and kids who greet one another with kindness, and so many people who can find something in common. The complex sets aside time to listen and share acts of kindness with their tenants. It may not be a perfectly refined place on the outside YET, but with the right residents who honor their commitment, like their neighbors who serve the complex itself, Gods heart for this place can shine through. “Come and see”. I didn’t want to love it, but I do, and this is a place where growth happens. May God continue to restore this place and all of those who reside within it to its fullness, promoting who all are earnest, and keep order to bless all of those who live for His Kingdom.
