I recently moved in after a 4 day road trip from my hometown. I signed the lease before ever seeing the apartment, and the entire process was simple and straightforward. Karen and the other staff at Habitat have been so helpful throughout the stressful process of moving across the country. When we finally arrived I was not disappointed. There are of course going to be pros and cons of any living space, but for myself the pros of Kabin far outweigh the cons. Cons: Lots of construction downtown that can occasionally delay your drive. There is occasionally a beeping alarm in the lobby. This is probably annoying for anyone living near the lobby but I’m far enough away I can’t hear it from inside my apartment. Occasionally you can smell the dog food outside from the Purina factory, but this doesn’t bother me personally, and my dogs love it! There are no drawers in the kitchen so I’ll be getting creative with how I’ll be storing my utensils! No patio on any floor besides the 1st, but you still get the cool garage door window that opens. Pros: No outrageous & surprising move in fees! There is cost transparency. There is coffee and food in walking distance within the taxi campus. The prices are extremely reasonable and so far everything has been delicious! So much storage space! I got rid of a lot of things thinking there wouldn’t be room, but the closets are bigger than I expected! There are peg boards in every building where neighbors post about events and small businesses (like dog walking and tattoos). The two bedroom is bigger than expected! The open concept makes it feel big and the bathroom is 3x the size of my bathroom in my last apartment which barely had room to stand in. I’m genuinely so happy I moved here and am looking forward to all the opportunities that will come from living in this community. Updating this after renewing my lease for another year: First of all, the rent went up less than $100! We are so pleasantly surprised to be able to continue to afford living here for another year. I see some reviews complaining about issues with maintenance or the leasing office. I genuinely have no idea why they are having these issues. When I contact maintenance, they reach out to me within 24 hours to find a time to come (unless it’s the weekend, it seems like they don’t work on the weekend so maybe that’s why others have issues with them not showing up in a timely manner?). Our fire alarms in my unit were broken and for about a week, the alarms and strobe lights would go off multiple times a day including at 2am when we were all asleep. I thought I was going to go mad from lack of sleep. After a few days of troubleshooting, the maintenance crew ended up replacing every smoke detector in our unit! The fire alarms haven’t gone off once since! Our pets are happy about that, it was very stressful for all of us! They do annual inspection walkthroughs where they take photos of every room. Kinda weird but I understand and appreciate that they want to make sure all units are being maintained. Most people don’t pick up their dog poop, which is frustrating because we don’t have pet fees here. It seems like there is a company hired by the apartment who occasionally goes around picking it up, but it’s disappointing that this has to happen. Especially because there’s dog poop stations with free bags all around the building. Some people walk their dogs off leash, which is very dangerous, but I spoke with the security guard who is always monitoring the parking lots and he said they have begun to crack down on this issue. I appreciate they are taking this more seriously. I’ve also never had an issue contacting the leasing office. It’s easy to text them, and they usually reply within a couple hours (when the office is open), and usually it’s immediate. Sometimes the main entrance doors to the lobby are broken/locked, but there’s a side entrance so it doesn’t really cause issues. There are some houseless people occasionally walking through the lot/dumpster diving, but not as common as other apartments across the river.

We love living at Sorella and are excited to see the progression as it is a new community. They are doing amazing, if you are thinking about moving definitely check Sorella out.
