Lived in this building for over 2 years now and it’s always been a great place to live. The staff is responsive, the building is beautiful and they spend tons of time makes it clean. The apartments are extremely nice and the building is kept nice with cleaners, workers, and land scapers here every week. They notice residents when they need to enter the apartment and they have a beautiful rooftop and electric car charging in the garage for those with environmentally friendly cars! I will continue to live here and love every second of it’

A year ago, impressed by the reviews, the friendliness of the leasing office staff, and the admittedly nice view from the top floor, I decided to sign a 12 month lease at 801 North. I could list many pros and cons I experienced at this property which overall would paint a mixed picture (and you don't really want mixed when you're paying 4k per month in rent), but I'd rather focus on the unfairness with which the move out and deposit reimbursement process was handled: the pre-inspection was conducted two weeks ahead of the move out date and the feedback was professional cleaning (the apartment was left clean, but I understand deep professional cleaning is a standard and acceptable fee) and minor paint touch ups (the walls were immaculate as nothing was hung or pressed against them over the course of the year) may be needed. Imagine my surprise when 3 weeks after having moved out I received a 640$ invoice (billed against the deposit) for two men working 8 hours a day for 2 days on "painting". To compare, my previous two buildings charged 90$ (22 month stay, owned by Sequoia), 87.50$ (13 month stay, owned by NMS Properties). All in all, of a 2000$ deposit less than 1 thousand was returned despite the lack of any reported damage. During the course of the past 12 months the area has seen a wave of new buildings of a higher standard at a comparable price - if you are considering signing a new lease in the West Hollywood area, I would highly recommend you choose more wisely than I did.
