Where can I start? I moved in a year ago when the building was managed by Common living that declared bankrupt back in July. Didn’t have any issues until Ecco living took over. I got an email from them a month ago with my move-out instructions, saying that they don’t have my deposit and that I should reach out to Common as they ‘do not hold it in their possession’. Unfortunately for Ecco living, I do have friends in the building (roommates included) who decided to renew their lease and magically they were told (and we have proof of that because we have emails that they sent them) that their deposit would be transferred from Common. They keep saying ‘they cannot be held responsible for the old company issues’ but neither should be tenants. So I only have one simple question for Ecco, why were tenants never told that their deposits were basically lost? As shown in the review right below mine (where, again, someone is complaining about not getting their deposit back) please be aware that when they say ‘we do not have control over past agreements or financial obligations made by previous companies’ they are CLEARLY LYING. Also be aware that you won’t be able to reach out to Common, simply because that company does not exist anymore, so you’re gonna have to file a proof of claim to get your deposit back and there’s a good chance that it won’t even happen. Also, if they don’t have control over past agreements, why was I never given a new lease to sign when they took over the property? Instead, I still had my old lease agreement from Common. STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAMMERS!!

Absolutely worst experience I have ever had. I moved out on August 12th of 2024 and it is now September. They had told me that I would receive my security deposit back through email once. And now every time I email they don't respond. I called and they said that they will look into it but never get back to me. They have essentially stole my security deposit. They are required by law to give the security deposit within 21 days. It was been over 30 now. If you wanna live here and never get your deposit back then go ahead if not they I would stand clear of them. My car also got broken into when I was living there and when I requested for the camera footage they told me it would cost around 200$ for them to look at the footage and then send it to me. This is just ridiculous. All I want is my security deposit back. If I could give 0 stars I would. Stay very far away from this unprofessional garbage service company. They will just take your money and run. And now they have blocked my number after I have called them numerous times. So I guess my money is gone now and this is really just bad customer service.
