It is in a great location - close to the freeway, downtown San Jose, Santana Row and Valley Fair, and a respectable commute to work. The office staff (Olga, Anna, and Aurora) is professional, helpful, and responsive to requests and questions. Maintenance service is prompt. Joe always responds quickly and gets the work done correctly without needing to come back. The building interior is well maintained, and I have had no issues with appliances. There have been improvements in access, especially through the garage with more secure garage doors.

I honestly don't know why The Standard has a low rating. I guess people are more likely to write 1-star reviews because they're upset, whereas everyone else who like the apartment doesn't take the time to do so. Well, I'm taking the time now because I'm bored at work. I'll start off by saying that I highly recommend this apartment. My fiancé and I toured 10 apartments before deciding on this one. My true rating is 4.5 stars, which I explain below. The first pro to this place is the location. It's quiet, not too crowded, but also not walking distance to anything but a brewery, Safeway, and McDonalds. -Second, it's a super cool place to live at! The study lounge is cool, the fitness center is cool, the pool is cool (excuse my limited vocabulary). -The apartments have ceiling to floor windows. And our windows are south facing, so we get the very best lighting. -The actual apartments are modern. I feel wealthy living there even though I'm not. -We've made several service calls for issues we've had, and the handyman always arrives within 24 hours. They even replaced our dishwasher when ours went out (albeit they did so after our third request). My fiancé already knows our handyman on a first name basis (but I doubt he knows ours). -The complex has NO BUGS. No roaches, spiders, bedbugs, you name it. -Our packages are always safe. Even when the delivery person doesn't follow instructions and leaves our package outside of the locker, no one takes them. -Also, the lobby staff people are super helpful, we also know all their names (esp. Aurora - shout out to her). I'm sure there's more good things to note, but I've forgotten at the moment. I remember my fiancé and I were hesitant to move here because we read some reviews about bike theft and car theft, but we spoke to a rep here about our concerns and she said that those incidents are not recent, which is true. They implemented a new security system since then that uses an app rather than a fob. Which takes me to the first con of this place: the new security system! Yes, it works in the sense that the place is more secure, but the garage doesn't have any Wi-Fi or cell reception, so the app doesn't load for me down there! It's frustrating and it's my only true complaint. The rep told me I should open the app BEFORE I enter the garage, but honestly, I always forget to do that. As a workaround, I've been taking the stairs up to the ground level and then catching the elevator from there, but that sucks when I'm carrying a bunch of shopping bags. The other con is that sometimes the pool gets loud? But I don't really care about that. The windows are soundproof, so I just shut them. Anyway, I think that's all I have to say about this place. We may or may not extend our lease here. It depends on our financial situation.
