BEWARE - Shady SlumLord! Becovic Properties have been taking a page right out of the "Berrada" playbook by renovicting rent paying tenants! Having been given only 30 day notices to vacate so that Becovic can do superficial "renovations" that detract from the building's Art Deco charm. Becovic is NOT addressing the serious structural issues such as very old, drafty windows, extremely old electrical wiring that still uses glass fuses, ancient plumbing with zero water pressure. Working poor and lower income tenants are being forced out in order for Becovic to slap in a few superficial renovations and then target Marquette students with their "Market Value" rent rates. At the time of this review, unrenovated unit rates were between $600 - $800 per One Bedroom unit. After Renovations these unit prices will skyrocket to $1,200 and above! They are not adding any amenities, they aren't adding disposals to the fancy looking new steel sinks, they aren't adding dishwashers, there is no gym facility in the building, the laundry facilities still take coins only. There is no emergency maintenance and maintenance is not available after their "office hours" or on weekends! There is ONLY ONE elevator in this six story building, so if it goes out (which it often does) you have no one to fix this until they are good and ready! Do NOT rent from these people as they are unprofessional, rude, lying, slumlords!
