As our children finished school, we were ready to downsize, live closer to my office, and get a feel for multi-unit living. There were ideas of buying condo possibly, and even the possibility of living in an RV full-time. So, we needed to figure it all out. We sold our home and moved to an apartment.
Due to our uncertainty, we tackled this idea of downsizing gradually. Our first apartment home was 1500 sf, then to 1400, then 1300, then 1050, and eventually to 740.
One important note as you read this: We are VERY picky. We have HIGH expectations. We are reasonable, but we do not want to live in a dirty or unsightly environment. Keep that in mind as you read through our 6 year experience at this Camden property.
The first three apartments (NOT Camden properties) were very good places to live the first year as they were brand new and in lease up phase. After the first year, we saw things change rapidly each time.
We visited this Camden property and decided to give it a shot. We loved the idea that Camden constructed the building, owned the building, and managed the building. We loved the many outdoor common areas, the location to the City park, and most of all the walkability into Downtown Crown and Rio Washingtonian.
At the year one mark, we had actually noticed improvement in how the building was maintained, decorated, cared for, and cleaned. Not only did we decide to stay in the building, but we decided to move to a smaller apartment--one that we had toured and fell in love with months prior. Our youngest was about to graduate college and get married. It was perfect timing to go even smaller. This smaller apartment faced the Zen Courtyard and had one of the largest patio areas available.
The pandemic hit and we decided to delay retirement and stay put in this apartment for more than 4 1/2 years.
As with any apartment or condo building, there are annoyances at times with residents not always being as respectful to neighbors as reasonable people would hope. When buildings age, they have annoying issues sometimes. When staff change, there are hiccups sometimes. Things happen. HOWEVER, for the most part, management at this Camden property has stepped up, addressed the issue, fixed the problem, and ensured that the facility remained in good condition for the 6 years in total that we called this property home. It has remained cleaner than any other apartment building I've seen after year one, had frequent paint touch up, upgrades, etc. The STAFF have been AMAZING--friendly, professional, responsive, and timely. The building looks beautiful. Hallways and common areas well kept. The grounds are kept in pristine condition. The quality of building construction is good. The Italian made cabinets are very modern and durable. The LVP flooring is very nice and durable. Lock technologies in place work well.
We decided to move for a few reasons. The primary reason was a much needed walk-in shower which at the time we were considering renewing our lease at this facility, was not available in a floorplan that fit our specific needs. Another reason was that we desired to relocate to another area that we wanted to explore prior to retirement. And, well, honestly, my wife likes new construction and the newest and coolest perks and upgrades that often come with such.
Overall, the general manager, Jennifer, has an eye for detail and ensures the property is in good order. Even when she and I did not necessarily agree, she was professional and did her best to address my concern. She's tough but fair. We have appreciated the fact that she always wants the property to look its best at all times.
I would highly recommend considering this property of apartment homes.

I’ve been living at Camden Washingtonian since 2019 and just renewed my lease—this community is truly a gem. The staff is friendly, responsive, and the neighbors make it feel like home. The location is perfect, within walking distance to the Rio and Crown, where you'll find bustling restaurants and shops, yet tucked away in a quiet, peaceful area.
One of my favorite things about living here is the stunning view of Malcolm King Park from my apartment. It's especially beautiful during the changing seasons—watching the colors shift from my window is such a treat. The park is also ideal for walking my dog.
As a parent, I also appreciate that the school bus picks up right in front of the leasing office, and kids can wait inside, away from the elements. On top of all that, we regularly have food trucks at the community.
If you're looking for a welcoming, convenient, and scenic place to call home, I highly recommend Camden Washingtonian!

Me and my girlfriend recently toured this apartment community, and from the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism. Our leasing agent, Eudel, was absolutely phenomenal! Her welcoming energy, knowledge, and genuine enthusiasm made our experience unforgettable. She took the time to answer all our questions, highlighted every amazing feature of the property, and truly made us feel at home. Not only is the property itself stunning—with well-maintained amenities and a great atmosphere—but Eudel’s exceptional service had the biggest impact on making this our top pick so far. If everything works out for us to move here, we truly look forward to being welcomed by her positive energy every day. Thank you, Eudel, for making our tour so enjoyable and for setting such a high standard for customer service! Highly recommend touring here if you’re looking for a place that feels like home from the very start.

I am a new resident in this building and have been living here for the past few months. This is actually my first experience living in an apartment and I have to say that it has been such a wonderful experience so far. The amenities are great and provide for a lot of spaces to relax and connect with people. The area is just a short walk from Rio, and has been very convenient for me. The staff has also been such a pleasure to know, they are always so welcoming and really made me feel comfortable in moving into this space.

They say first impressions last. The attention I received from the staff at the leasing office was very detailed and welcoming. I knew I found my new home. I moved in July 2024, to this date the expectations were exemplary. The staff were very responsive, the community is friendly, and the space are GREAT! Very quiet and tucked in by the greeneries. And just across the bridge on a walking distance is the hustle and bustle of the Rio and Crown. Love living here!

Eudel N. was such a lovely representation of the community! I got to the complex a little early so I waited in the lobby and the way she interacted with the tenants that walked by the leasing office was so warm and welcoming and she also seems to get along well with her coworkers. She was very informative about the complex and the individual units we toured, and she was able to answer literally every question I had about the community and the area. I'm very much looking forward to moving to Camden Washingtonian in the coming months!
