My husband and I just moved in a few weeks ago. Let me tell you, we had been touring a lot of apartments in the East Bay Area (San Leandro, Hayward, Oakland) and had seen about 15 apartments in total. We set up a last minute tour with Charlie, 401 Derby was the last apartment we saw. Charlie is excellent, she is professional, communicative, and honest. She answered all of our questions and for once I didn't feel like I was being sold to. Compared to the other places we looked at, 401 provides the most square footage, the highest ceilings, and has in unit washer-dryers for a comparable price. 401 shot up to the top of our list because of the previously mentioned things and because a manager can make or break where you live. So far we are very happy. Great light into the apartment, windows and walls block noise (never hear our neighbors), and we already feel like we are home. My husband and I have read so many google and yelp reviews before seeing any of our many apartment tours. So I hope this review can shed some reasonable light for any future tenant looking for a place to live that matches what they are looking for.

Just moved in a couple weeks ago and I love the building. The staff, particularly Charlie, has been amazing at making me feel welcome and that all my concerns would be addressed.
