This neighborhood is excellent: highly walkable, full of neat shops and restaurants, and in close proximity to Hawthorne but without too much commotion. Consistently parking within 1-2 blocks of the building can be a bit challenging, but if you're decent at parallel parking and don't mind a short walk it isn't too bad. As for D29: The management staff were professional and always very responsive to our concerns. Our rent was quite reasonable considering the location and context. We only lived here for one year due to various factors unrelated to the building but would have happily stayed longer otherwise. The building was very quiet overall, and our unit seemingly had pretty thick walls. We often received compliments from guests on things like the finishes, backsplashes, and the very generous windows. Like most Portland residents, we did struggle during heatwaves. But having a dedicated circuit and exhaust hookup for the AC is a major plus compared to similar buildings without central or pre-installed AC.
