Just had to call Dove Lewis and poison control because the enormous yew bushes directly outside the entrance to these apartments are toxic enough to KILL A HORSE, and my dog just ate one of the berries off the ground, as dogs often do despite our best efforts. Unbelievable that yew trees are the landscaping choice for an apartment complex that welcomes pets. If my dog dies tonight, you'll be hearing from me immediately. Also, residents of this apartment complex frequently "walk" their dogs without leashes and without looking up from their phones, presenting a risk to passersby and their responsibly leashed dogs, as well as the young children who live directly across the street. (Those same kids could also easily pop those candy-colored berries into their mouths and be dead within minutes.) There are leash laws for a reason; Santa Monica needs to remind their residents to adhere to those laws.
