My daughter lived here. It was her first apartment solo. I live less than a mile away in a house. We have two businesses together, I take care of her cats when she’s traveling for shows or has long work days rehearsing. We also shared a recreational vehicle, a Jeep, that we would leave parked on her second tandem space. I do not have a secure mail box as anyone on the street can grab it so I had my mail sent there. So far since she moved out I have realized a credit card was never received nor an important document from DMV. Who knows what else. There are cameras everywhere which you would think is great but I feel the main purpose of use is surveillance on tenants. Twice when going to use the jeep the gate was remotely opened for me. creepy. The only person I saw was a man come out of the maintenance room in the garage. I am guessing that is where the displays are for the cameras? No idea. And even though I never passed by the landlord or her apartment manager she accused my daughter of having a second tenant and accused her of having a second remote control for the gate. My daughter often felt watched like she was in a dorm. Then I went to feed the cats one day and made eye contact with maintenance or landscapers as I entered. The next day my daughter received an email about unauthorized use of the entry key. This is when she decided to not renew her lease. I absolutely feel the landlord is way too involved of guest and tenant activity. The tenants are quiet and great tenants. Instead of being grateful I feel she looked for things to pick at. On top of all this there is a preschool on that side of the building that has screaming loud recess up to 5 times a day. This should have been disclosed. Clearly it was not in session when she looked. It is a loud street period with GAS blower doing the yard next door at least 2x a week for over 45 minutes. There is also cigarette smoke that comes from that yard. The other side of the building has a visible preschool with a sign. This other house had zero signage. No way to know. Anyway, my daughter was a great tenant that paid her rent one time. If she paid by the third day, which is allowed, she was contacted that day to ask where her rent was. She was also told not to feed or water some poor stray cat that was coming around hungry. While she did not feeling like moving AGAIN she moved due to all of these issues and I had to help her. AGAIN. Then they raised the rent to almost what my daughter is now paying in a much better neighborhood in Sherman Oaks. The apartment is much bigger with central air and a large balcony. So it all worked out in the end. But feeling surveillance for a year is unacceptable. She felt like she was in a dorm. Period!! Be grateful you have quiet, polite, tenants that pay on time. Also, note the only laundry is on the bottom floor by garage. They dryers never worked but they finally replaced them. If there should be cameras anywhere it’s there. It’s like doing your laundry in a basement. Not super safe for females. You can see there is another review about her watching and monitoring guests and making accusations. I passed this woman two times. When my daughter moved in and shortly before she moved out. That’s it! You also do not ACCUSE tenants of having two garage openers. How would she even have another one to that gate without asking the landlord? My daughter got a new car just prior to moving out which she did mention to Ruth but clearly she thought this was yet another person visiting. God forbid.
