We could not have asked for a better home for our growing family than the Academy Building. We had two children during the 4 years we lived there, but we eventually moved out of state for a job opportunity. We already miss the high ceilings and natural light of our apartment. We became very close with the staff of the Academy Building as well as the staff at the great cafe inside. Landlord and building manager both highly responsive and caring. The architecture and details of the building and the apartments are gorgeous and so unique, and the environment is friendly and welcoming. We felt very safe there, which was one of the reasons we chose the apartment in the first place. Location definitely walkable to some great restaurants and coffee shops, as well as the Genesee River path. I would highly recommend the Academy Building. Only cons were that parking during daytime hours could be tough if you have more than 1 car, and not much outdoor space other than front patio (although charcoal grill there now!), both very typical for apartments in the city.

The Academy building is not only gorgeous, but a great place to live! It’s close to everything and the street is quiet. The property is always very clean and well maintained. The high ceilings and huge windows make an impression on anyone who visits. The space feels uplifting even on a gloomy Rochester day! It has all the conveniences you need, like laundry in your own space and off street parking. I’ve enjoyed urban loft living before but there is no place that compares to the Academy building!
