The National Biscuit Company building was erected in 1906. It was the first major structure on 10th Street. Everyone today knows this company as...Nabisco. The National Biscuit Company Flats consists of masonry and heavy timber construction and was converted to 54 affordable single resident housing units in 1995. In 2008, the building underwent a significant remodeling. The building still retains its historic character, however. Wood ceilings and beams, and the perimeter brick wall remain exposed and appear virtually new. The individual units are cozy and comfortable. The ceilings soar 11 to 15 feet, and the windows are large, flooding the interior spaces with light. There are exposed brick walls, bamboo floors, and granite counter-tops.
