Daniel & Anthony are the friendly maintenance guys with top notch customer service in the Deco at CNB from my own interactions. I am so grateful for their professionalism and dedication to servicing my work orders within 24-48 hrs. The maintenance work orders for the amenities areas of the bldg. also seem to get resolved pretty expeditiously. They’re always actively busy in and around the facility getting work done. I love that they are consistently present when I’ve even had random maintenance questions. I value the consistency of being a familiar face and it’s comforting as an older resident. I think I may feel uncomfortable with new Mx workers for every work order. So thanks for being consistent and available for random inquiries.

Update: I have lived here for a year now. Really great apartment and if you live in the tower facing east, you’ll get the best views.
Really pretty apartment complex. It is quiet (I’ve lived in 3 other new apartment complexes and trust me, it is quiet and well-insulated), the views are great, and the location is EVERYTHING. If you like to walk around and explore, this is the place for you! The leasing staff is friendly and accommodating. The price is quite fair when you take into account all of the positives that come with the location. If I did not commute so far, I would have gone for the c-style kitchen, but my wall-kitchen layout works fine since I live alone and made the rent more affordable.
You do have to pay for parking at the private lot behind the building (currently owned by SPPlus), but compared to other apartments in the downtown area, the cost is really affordable for a monthly rate.
I read a few reviews before I moved about safety with the location, but I have walked all around and I walk to and from the parking garage each day since I commute and I have not had any issues. Just use common street smart rules and you should be fine. There are some great restaurants and bars within walking distance and uber is affordable and easily accessible if you choose to go that route.

I came here in July of 2023 to get my masters at VCU Medical. This has been an incredible experience. Deco is smack dab in the centre of everything. I parked my vehicle in the garage and took my bike everywhere. It's conveniently located. Every month we were surrounded by some kind of activity. We are a 3 minute walk to the convention centre where there were dozens of events. Once day I woke up to see thousands of joggers in a marathon. Another time, I walked to the Jazz festival across the street, and another month I walked a short 8 minutes to the Folk Festival by the river. I took the FREE bus to a basketball game, and went to several Flying squirrel's games. Carytown is nearby. The Museum is close. The school library is a cozy bike ride up the road. Deco even hosted a fashion show with runway models and a party. Deco has been very good to me in terms of comfort, convenience, and close to everything. The staff has held activities for all the residence and provided food and snacks during different seasons. This is the perfect location for School or VCU health. One drawback, don't go out too late at night because the streets can be sketchy. Otherwise, well worth the stay.

🙏🏼💝🦋There's really nothing I can complain about, Absolutely Love this place . 💖Deco has every amenity you could imagine the gym and yoga room is so amazing, peaceful and quiet. Even when I moved in the place was cleaned✅️, painted before I moved in✅️, but regardless when you move into any apartment you have to clean it for yourself anyway this day and time. 🥰💖Deco is absolutely a beautiful residence🦋💕. Also remember it's in how you keep your place clean, or take care of your place. The only thing I can say that the downfall at times is the scent of the trash sometime . Its dumpster area is so unbearable sometime but fixed for the most part. It's really hard to deal with trash sent ,but they have gotten✅️ a new deodorizer to help with the scent I Love this✅️. It is so Beautiful the Architect of it is Amazing this place look like an art museum. 💖🦋Deco at CNB Apartments💖 is very elegant very classy. Washer and dryer and every apartment,but otherwise I have only had the most wonderful experience here 💖. So far💝 Wonderful Staff Members💝 so kind especially Maggie and Jessica and staff💖 very personable and very helpful and finding what you need and living comfortable. 💖I love them all living here, it's like being with a family that you don't have. They're so sweet and so kind they're always looking out for you. The tenants are kind as well, most of the tenant speak they're friendly it's very overwhelming to be in a place that seems so caring. I am extremely happy it is peaceful for the most part. I am getting great rest, the view is so lovely. I am enjoying my view every day and night. I have not even seen the whole entire place yet but what I saw when I was visiting I love it. I'm in love with my place for a long time waiting. I think this place has a lot of pluses - right in downtown, is nearby great restaurants by Grace St, has a dedicated locked package room (I have not lost a package yet in my 2 years of living here), and generally good communication with the staff, who are extremely helpful in person and in email. Here's a couple of other pluses off the top of my head:
- The maintenance service is also great! I've emailed the staff or put a ticket in, and the issue has been resolved 95% of the time by the next day.
- Not an absurd amount for down payment. Where I lived previously (Philadelphia), they'd ask you upfront for the 1st and last months of rent, and the security deposit (Which was the equivalent of rent) - aka, 3x payment all at once. Deco (I'm not sure if this is standard across Richmond) just asks for the first month, and ~ $200 for the security deposit (Less if you work at VCU)
- Relatively quiet. After coming from call, the last thing I want to do is wake up from noisy neighbors. This is definitely the luck of the draw, but I've had absolutely no complaints on my end from noise disturbances on my floor.
However, there are some things that are negatives for me that I'll list below:
1) Age of the building: This will result in a random week or so of the AC being down during late spring/early summer. At least the time I've been there, it's been consistently the 4th floor. It'll take some time for it to get fixed, and at least the last time I asked, no compensation was given for how long it was down for. It's just unfortunately something you'll have to deal with given the age.
2) Security around downtown Richmond: The ways to get in are through 3rd, Broad, and Grace St.'s. You enter with a fob or an app, which is really convenient, especially when you're having family come over while you're out at work. But this part of downtown is ironically a little sketchy despite the police station across the street. I saw two homeless people sleeping on the couch out in the elevator lobby on my floor, and saw several sleep out in the trolly room on the 1st floor. The package room got broken into with some packages stolen, although I will say this was fixed relatively quickly, and I have not had any other instances of missing packages (Compared to other places where there are no locked package rooms, and there are multiple instances where the packages would simply get picken up and stolen very easily)
Overall though, this place is excellent with good staff, good security with packages, and great maintenance crew.

I’ve been living here for the past 3 years. I can’t say enough good things about the front office staff and maintenance. Even in the summer where student turnover is high, the work orders I put in have a turn around time of 24-48 hours. I can’t recommend Deco enough.
