Lakeshore Landing is a great community conveniently located in a central location in San Mateo. It is dog-friendly with nice paths along the water. There are other Essex communities in the area that are brand new with more amenities. However, my 5-star review is based on the staff and the maintenance because we've received great customer service since day one of visiting the complex. We've been a resident for almost half a year and just transferred over to a larger unit. Since our stay, maintenance (Nacho, Robert, Miguel) has shown to be the best team that I've seen since renting apartments for over a decade. Each time a a request is added through the portal, the team responds almost instantly. In between our transition to the new apartment, the staff (Kevin and Megan) have been so patient with answering numerous questions about the availability of new units, parking, deposit, etc. After moving into our new apartment, we noticed that the carpet in our bedroom had a strange smell (the rest of our place has hard-surface flooring). Maintenance scheduled another carpet cleaning during the next business day and used a different solution, but this didn't fix the problem. The next day, I visited the office to tell the staff about the persistent smell that just wouldn't go away, and maintenance came by again later that afternoon to let me know our whole carpet would be replaced. We also received a credit since we haven't been able to sleep in our room for a few days due to the smell. Luckily, we have a den that could fit a queen-sized mattress perfectly! I'm really happy about how the staff handled this complaint at a timely manner. Now that all smells are gone, we're really excited to live in our new unit. Our dog loves the bigger space for sure too! We've visited numerous apartments in our area, but Lakeshore Landing is a community that I love calling my home.
