Lived there twice. Some intimate details. It's within walking distance of grocery shopping, some of the best eats around. Yummi Teryaki, Broken Yoke, an In'n'Out, Ralph's.
The pools, cabanas, the pools are saline, not chlorine. If that's a feature you're after. I like swimming underwater. The sides are lined with desert blooming plants, and swarm with hummingbirds. Photo here is from the pool, I could just walk out, and step into it.
I'd play the banjo poolside, nobody minded. Actually, others would grab their instruments, and say, "Let's jam!" "Okay! Lets!" And we'd kick in. There's a golf course green, up and to the left, with a great path to walk/bike. It's got a lot of bunnies, but... it's where redtailed hawks feed... one time, I saw them circling above... 10' in front of me, the female swooped down, snatched it. "Lunch!" "Oooh! Wildlife in action!"
Anyway, some of the best friends I've ever made were there. They were always kind to me, at least, and to others.
Caveats, it's desert. The doors and windows don't have the seals, so on a rare desert rainstorm, the raingutters hadn't been cleared, one had fallen. Kinda rained right down into my bedroom window, so was up all night with a shopvac, but they cleared it up the next day.
Stormbursts are rare, but it's at the upper end of the hill so floodwater drains down and around. Well placed for that. That was a one-time incident. Anyway, easy access to anything needed. The staff, was impeccable. It's gated, if that's a concern, but never had an incident.
Oh... neighbors the street down, along the golf course let their little terrier out during the red hawk's feeding... patch of fur was found down the way a bit... so... if that's a concern. Other than that, lovely place to take up residence.
Memories I recall, was family coming to visit, when I lived there. We'd go to the beaches, OB, Laguna, Mission Beach, the Wildlife Safari Park, a few times. My father, on a rare visit, we'd go out on the golf course, (as I said, couple blocks away, but it's always well-groomed), I'd been doing a painting series. We laid on the grass, with the owls hooting, looking up at the stars. "You see Orion there?" "Yes." "Every point along the coast, I'd look up and see Orion's belt. Those three stars." "I see them clearly." (note, it's far enough from the big city lights, that you can see the stars clearly.) The view from there is... weird..
"That's what I based my painting series on. Be it Seattle, or San Diego, I'd look up, and see those stars. I made an entire painting series, because I could pick out the stars, see them, and know, 'You were all seeing them, too." (I'm ex-Navy, first stint was in Coronado, we're guided by stars, kinda ingrained).
Anyway, maybe a tad out of date, but, the neighbors there, and I tried to be a good one, were all great, staff was attentive. Actually... maybe a little too attentive (not a complaint!)
Full central air, the water heating is centralized, so no worries about running out of hot water in the shower. I had a 2 Bedroom there, when family came to visit, I was just, "Oh! Go ahead! Use the bathrooms all you want! Free reign on that!"
But the pools, the pools... so nice to just jump in, from hot to cool.
I'd move back in an instant, given the chance, but... outside of that now. Lived there twice, went back for a good reason. Great people! Great (awesome neighborhood).
