I lived at the Rosedale for over a year before moving out early due to safety concerns. The gates and building doors were rarely secure, so going out after dark felt unsafe. Gunshots were a regular sound, and I saw suspicious people wandering around the complex. The noise level was another issue—walls, floors, and ceilings are so thin that I was constantly woken up by neighbors, traffic, and loud music from cars at the nearby light. Homeless people frequently searched through the trash, and I often got catcalled while taking my dog out. The front gate was broken and left open for months, despite complaints. Management was initially polite but became condescending when I raised concerns. It’s clear they’re accustomed to dealing with college students, often treating residents as though they’re under supervision. Car break-ins happened often, and management blamed residents for leaving items in their cars. I’m only grateful to management for allowing me to move out early, because I am much happier where I am at now. However, when I finally moved out, I cleaned thoroughly, yet I was still charged $75 for the oven. I worked hard to clean it but it was the cheapest oven i’ve ever seen that didn’t self-clean, show the temperature or even when the ovens done preheating so it won’t just magically become spotless, even after two or three cleans with oven solutions. It definitely looked clean and they refused to discuss the fee with me. I’ll attach a picture of the “dirty” oven below. For $1,145 a month, the quality and safety are not worth it, especially considering the area and management. If you need to be near Texas Wesleyan, consider other apartments along Rosedale near Magnolia.
