August 1st move in!! We have a 12 x 13 sized room with a closet, good natural light, wood floors, and a private bathroom open at the Arlington House. We have a great community and are looking for the right person to join our home. It's a month to month lease but we have a slow turnover rate here and we are interested in housemates who want to stay around a year or more. There are 6 housemates in total. The 5 housemates that will be living here are all guys ranging in ages from late-20's to early 40's. However, it has been and a co-ed house before and we are open to finding the right person who fits in. You would be living in the main house with 3 other guys. There is a lot of space here and we never feel like we are crowding each other. The two other housemates reside in the front yard and backyard studios. We all share some similar interests, enjoy being outdoors, organizing adventures, and have busy lives outside of the house. We all clean up after ourselves and have a general level of cleanliness and mutual respect. Inside the house you will find a large kitchen and living room. There is a washer and dryer and broadband wireless throughout the house. There is no TV (or cable) in the common areas. We have the ability to watch movies together via a video projector. The house is set back from the street with a terraced front yard that has large trees, some fruit trees, flowers and other interesting plants. There are around 44 hand laid brick stairs that lead their way up to the front door. There is also a back patio with flowers, vegetables and other plants in various levels of growth. There is space for you to grow things in containers if you like to garden as well as dry clothes via a clothes line and BBQ. On clear nights, it is a wonderful place to gaze into the night sky or watch a sunset over the bay. The house is located in Kensington a fun small town just over the Berkeley border. It's walking distance to the Kensington Village that has a market, café, restaurants, bank, and hardware store. There is ample street parking with no time limit or street sweeping. If you enjoy being active outdoors then Tilden Park and Wildcat Canyon are just up the road as well as the local Kensington Park with tennis courts, basketball courts, and other nice park additions. We have a garage where we keep our bicycles and outdoor sports gear. If you spend time on campus bus #7 (AC TRANS) can get you there. A couple housemates bike to campus so it's doable but not super close. Check out our location on the map. It's a 10-minute drive to get to either El Cerrito Plaza or North Berkeley BART. We would like to find a friendly housemate who takes pride in where he/she lives and is not just looking for a room to rent. You will be asked to help with some small chores and keep the common areas clean. We recycle as much as possible and compost. We all live busy lives and are rarely home all at the same time, however, we want a housemate who is friendly and enjoys sharing a story every now and then and likes being around others since this is ultimately a shared housing arrangement. The rent is $660 plus utilities that are between $50-$80 per person a month. Move in cost will be first month rent and $800 security deposit. Sorry but we are not allowed to have any pets.
