SF Bay Area Metro Report: September 2017

The Zumper SF Bay Area Metro Report analyzed active listings in August across 30 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The California one bedroom median rent was $1,692.

Cities Ranked By Rent

The Most Expensive

San Francisco, Californie rent continued to fall, dropping $30 last month to $3,390. However, the city still ranked as the priciest in the metro and nation.

Mountain View, CA prices dropped $150 last month to $3,060 but remained the second most expensive.

Redwood City, CA saw one bedroom rent fall below the $3,000 threshold to $2,950 and ranked as the third priciest in the metro.

The Least Expensive

Vallejo, CA rent grew $30 to $1,330 but stayed the most affordable in the metro.

Santa Rosa, CA ranked as second with rent down $20 since last month to $1,530.

ConcordNapa, CA tied for the third least expensive city with rents at $1,630.

The Fastest Growing (Y/Y%)

Petaluma, CA had the fastest growing rent since this time last year, up 15.6%.

San Leandro, CA saw prices climb 12.7%, ranking as the second fastest growing.

Milpitas, CA had the third largest yearly growth rate, up 10.7%.

The Fastest Growing (M/M%)

Walnut Creek, CA rent was the fastest growing since last month, up 5.1%.

Livermore, CA was second with prices climbing 5%.

Milpitas, CA had the third largest monthly growth rate, up 4.6%.
