SF Bay Area Metro Report: October 2017

The Zumper SF Bay Area Metro Report analyzed active listings in September across 30 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The California one bedroom median rent was $1,699.

Growth Rate

The Most Expensive

–San Francisco, Californie rent grew $90 last month to $3,480 and continued to reign as the most expensive in the metro.

–Mountain View, CA also saw prices grow, up $50 to $3,110, and ranked as the second priciest city.

–Redwood City, CA was third with rent at $2,800.

The Least Expensive

–Vallejo, CA saw prices fall $30 to $1,300 and remained the most affordable city to rent.

–Santa Rosa, CA ranked as the second least expensive with rent at $1,520.

–Napa, CA, close behind, was third with rent at $1,570.

Growth Rate

The Fastest Growing (Y/Y%)

–Mountain View, CA had the fastest growing rent since this time last year, up 15.6%.

–Petaluma, CA prices had the second largest yearly growth rate, climbing 14.7%.

–Walnut Creek, CA ranked as third with rent growing 12.2%.

The Fastest Growing (M/M%)

–Alameda, CA rent was the fastest growing last month, up 5%.

–Walnut Creek & Petaluma, CA tied for second with prices both jumping 4.8%.

–Livermore, CA rent grew 4.7% last month, making it third.
