SF Bay Area Metro Report: January 2018

The Zumper SF Bay Area Metro Report analyzed active listings in December across 30 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The California one bedroom median rent last month was $1,831.

Cities Ranked By Rent

The Most Expensive

–San Francisco, Californie held onto its position as the priciest city in the metro with one bedrooms priced at $3,400.

–Mountain View, CA continued to rank as second with rent at $3,270.

–Emeryville, CA rent grew $100 to $2,890 but remained the third priciest in the metro.

The Least Expensive

–Vallejo, CA rent grew $70 to $1,430 but stayed the most affordable in the metro.

–Santa Rosa, CA was second with one bedrooms priced at $1,570.

–Napa, CA followed suit as third with rent at $1,640.

Growth Rate

The Fastest Growing (Y/Y%)

–Santa Clara, CA had the largest year over year rental growth rate, climbing 15.9%.

–Livermore, CA rent was the second fastest growing, up 15.7% since this time last year.

–Mountain View & Walnut Creek, CA tied for third with rent jumping 15.5%.

The Fastest Growing (M/M%)

–Mountain View, Napa, & Vallejo, CA all tied for the city with the fastest growing rent last month with prices climbing 5.1%.

–Richmond, CA followed closely behind as second with rent growing 5%.

–Oakland, CA was third with rent up 4.9%.
