Falling 2 spots, Chicago ranked as the 14th most expensive city to rent in the country, according to our most recent national rent report. One bedroom prices dropped 5.2%, which was the largest rent dip in the top 50 markets, to $1,470. Two bedrooms experienced a similar trend, falling 4.8% to $1,970.
While Fuller Park and West Pullman had the fastest growing rents this quarter, up 16% and 18%, respectively, West Town and Roseland took the biggest rent dips, both down over 12%.
Though Greektown ($2,250) continued to reign as the most expensive neighborhood this spring, similar to last quarter, River North ($2,200) moved past Streeterville to rank as second. West Loop, Loop, and Streeterville followed suit as the next priciest areas.
More affordable rentals, priced around $1,100, could be found in Avondale, Humboldt Park, and Albany Park.
