San Francisco Bay Area Metro Report: February 2019

The Zumper SF Bay Area Metro Report analyzed active listings in January 2019 across 30 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The California one bedroom median rent last month was $1,769.

Cities Ranked By Rent

The Most Expensive

San Francisco, Californie remained the priciest city with one bedrooms priced at $3,580.

Mountain View, CA was second with rent at $3,450.

Palo Alto, CA held steady as third with rent growing $160 to $3,310.

The Least Expensive

Vallejo, CA saw rent drop $60 to $1,320 and continue to rank as the most affordable in the metro.

Santa Rosa, CA rent grew $50 to $1,650 but stayed the second least expensive.

Napa, CA moved down past Concord to rank in the cheapest three markets with rent falling $90 to $1,660.

Growth Rate

The Fastest Growing (Y/Y%)

Redwood City, CA had the fastest growing rent, up 15.5% since this time last year.

Palo Alto, CA followed closely behind with rent climbing 15.3%.

Oakland, CA saw rent jump 12.9% since this time last year, making it third.

The Fastest Growing (M/M%)

Palo Alto, CA rent had the largest monthly growth rate, up 5.1%.

Emeryville, CA had the second fastest growing rent, climbing 4.5% last month.

Union City, CA was third with rent growing 4.3%.
