San Francisco Bay Area Metro Report: August 2019

The Zumper San Francisco Bay Area Metro Report analyzed active listings in July 2019 across 30 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The California one bedroom median rent last month was $1,799.

Cities Ranked By Rent

The Most Expensive

San Francisco, Californie rent dropped to $3,600 but remained the most expensive city in the metro.

Mountain View, CA stayed the second priciest with rent at $3,450.

Palo Alto, CA was third with rent staying flat at $3,150.

The Least Expensive

Vallejo, CA saw rent drop $10 to $1,400 but continue to rank as the most affordable city.

Santa Rosa, CA remained second with rent at $1,650.

Concord, CA rent dropped $60 to $1,660 but held onto its position as the third least expensive.

Growth Rate

The Fastest Growing (Y/Y%)

Burlingame, CA had the fastest growing rent, up 12.3% since this time last year.

Oakland, CA saw rent climb 9.5%, making it second.

Napa, CA was third with rent jumping 7.6%.

The Fastest Growing (M/M%)

Napa, CA had the largest monthly rental growth rate, up 5.1%.

San Leandro, CA followed closely behind as second with rent growing 4.9% last month.

Oakland, CA was third with rent climbing 4.5%.
