The Zumper San Diego Metro Report analyzed active listings in June 2019 across 17 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The California state median was $1,777 last month.

Cities Ranked By Rent

Le plus cher

Coronado, CA remained the most expensive city with one bedrooms priced at $2,630.

Solana Beach, CA was second with rent at $2,450.

Carlsbad, CA moved up one spot and into the top three markets with rent growing $90 to $2,010.

Le moins cher

El Cajon, CA rent grew $10 to $1,310 but remained the most affordable city.

National City, CA stayed the second least expensive with one bedrooms priced at $1,340.

Lemon Grove, CA ranked as third with rent at $1,390.

Growth Rate

Imperial Beach, CA was the only city with a large year over year rental growth rate, up 8.1%.

Chula Vista, CA had the fastest growing rent last month, climbing 4.8%.

Carlsbad, CA followed closely behind as second with rent growing 4.7%.

Imperial Beach, CA rent jumped 4.3% last month, making it third.
