Dropping one spot, Chicago ranked as the 17th most expensive rental market in our most recent national rent report. One bedroom rent remained flat at $1,500, while two bedrooms grew 5% to $1,900. Notably, on a year over year basis, both one and two bedroom prices are down around 15%.

While Ashburn and North Park saw the largest rent spikes this quarter, both up around 20%, Burnside and Clearing took the largest rent dips, both down around 12%.
West Loop ($2,250) and River North ($2,240) dethroned Greektown ($2,220) to be the two most expensive neighborhoods to rent this summer. Loop and Streeterville, both priced over $2,000, were the next priciest areas. Mid-range priced rentals for about $1,500 could be found in Ukrainian Village, Little Italy, and Lake View.
The least expensive neighborhoods included Fuller Park, South Deering, and West Pullman.
