At a Glance
Despite a slight 2.9% drop in rents, Chicago remained the ninth most expensive rental market in the country last month, with the median one bedroom rent price settling at $1,670. At a local level, the most expensive neighborhood was again Near North Side at $2,000, up 1.0% in the month. The Loop (+3.2%, $1,960), Near West Side (+1.6%, $1,910), West Town (+3.4%, $1,840), and Lincoln Park (Unchanged, $1,750) rounded out the top five.

Notable Upward Trends
- Auburn Gresham surged 4.6% over the month to $680.
- North Lawndale rents increased 4.3% in the month, and 7.5% in the quarter to a median of $720.
- Lakeview saw a jump of 3.7% in February and 6.1% in the quarter, to a median rent of $1,400.
Notable Downward Trends
- Kenwood lost 4.1% in the month, ending with a median of $940.
- Evanston saw a dip of of 2.7%, down to $1,420.
- Edgewater also lost 2.8% in the period, to a median of $1,050.
