The Zumper Austin Metro Report analyzed active listings in January 2019 across 13 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The state median one bedroom rent was $938 last month.

Cities Ranked By Rent

Le plus cher

Austin, TX rent dropped $50 to $1,170 but continued to rank as the most expensive in the metro.

Brushy Creek, TX remained the second priciest with one bedrooms priced at $1,160.

Cedar Park, TX was third, though rent in this city dropped $40 to $1,060.

San Marcos, TX stayed the most affordable city with rent at $890.

Wells Branch, TX saw rent drop $50 to $920 but remained the second most affordable city.

Kyle, TX ranked as third with rent decreasing $20 to $960.

Growth Rate

Buda, TX had the largest year over year rental growth rate, up 8.5%.

Georgetown, TX followed closely behind as second with rent jumping 8.3% since this time last year.
