The Zumper Austin Metro Report analyzed active listings in March across 13 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The Texas state median rent was $937 last month.
Cities Ranked By Rent
The Most Expensive
–Brushy Creek, TX outpaced Austin last month to become the most expensive city with rent growing $60 to $1,190.
–Austin, TX rent dropped $20, settling at $1,160, and down one spot to rank as the second priciest in the metro.
–Cedar Park, TX moved past Leander to claim third with rent at $1,100.
The Least Expensive
–San Marcos, TX rent dropped $10 to $890 but continued to rank as the most affordable.
–Wells Branch, TX ranked as second least expensive with rent at $930.
–Jollyville, TX remained third with one bedrooms priced at $970.
Growth Rate
The Fastest Growing (Y/Y%)
–Brushy Creek, TX had the fastest growing rent since this time last year, up 12.3%.
–Austin, TX rent had the second largest year over year growth rate, climbing 10.5%.
–Buda, TX was third with rent growing 9.6%.
The Fastest Growing (M/M%)
–Brushy Creek, TX rent was also the fastest growing last month as well, increasing 5.3%.
–Georgetown, TX prices jumped 5% last month, making it second.
