The Zumper Austin Metro Report analyzed about 32,000 active listings in March across 13 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents.
Cities Ranked By Rent
Most Expensive
– Leander, TX continued to reign as the most expensive city to rent in the metro area. Rent here was priced at a median of $1,110.
– Hutto, TX climbed a few spots to second place this month with rent at $1,070.
– Brushy Creek, TX kept its same rank this month, although its prices bumped up slightly to $1,060.
Least Expensive
– San Marcos, TX was the most affordable city in the Austin metro yet again. Median rent here for the month of March was $850.
– Wells Branch, TX & Round Rock, TX tied for the second least expensive city. Rent in these two cities was $910.
– Jollyville, TX followed closely behind at $930.
Yearly Growth Rate
Fastest Growing (Y/Y%)
– Hutto, TX had the fastest growing rent since this time last year, up 15.1%
– Wells Branch, TX placed second but had a considerably lower year over year growth rate at 5.8%.
– Georgetown, TX followed closely after at 5.3%.
Fastest Growing (M/M%)
– Hutto, TX also had the fastest month over month growth rate this March at 4.9%.
– Kyle, TX was second with a monthly growth rate of 4.4%.
–Wells Branch, TX rent growth ranked third, up 3.4% since last month.
