It's pretty new and has decent finishes, but my friend lives here and they have raised the rent a ton since she moved in. Wish there were more affordable housing.

I lived at Trotter Down Apartments for two years, and while there are some positives, I ultimately moved due to ongoing frustrations. The apartments are nice, a bit on the smaller side, and the area is very quiet. It’s also convenient to have Dollar General within walking distance for quick errands. However, Prime Locations who owns the complex does the bare minimum. Rent has increased without adding amenities, and there are no washers or dryers in the units. Instead, there are two laundry rooms with three washers and dryers each for over 30 apartments. This setup often leaves residents waiting to do laundry all day due to others not rotating their laundry or not even having machines available. Management’s solution was having us remove others’ clothing if it’s done which feels inadequate. Management told me 6 washers and dryers for 30+ apartment is enough. Worse, the machines require $2.50 in quarters a cycle and aren’t well-maintained, with mold visible on the ground and inside the machines. Some of the smaller units also do not have a dishwasher. Additionally, while the appliances work, they could use updating considering the cost of rent compared to other complexes in the same price range. Under the previous ownership (Rainier General Development), the complex was much better managed, but since being taken over by Prime Locations, the rent hikes haven’t been matched by improvements or incentives to stay. We eventually found a larger apartment somewhere else with better amenities (new appliances, gym, pool, hot tub, including not being owned by Prime Locations) for $30 less per month (although management tried to gaslight me into believing that Prime was offering the lowest rent prices and that they truly do care about the complex) . It’s disappointing to leave a place we were once loyal to, but the lack of improvements, upkeep and location made it a clear choice to move on.
