About 395 S Convent Ave
Barrio Viejo is the most picturesque and historic neighborhood in the Downtown area. The street scape is straight from the days of Territorial Tucson, with beautiful adobe facades, ancient mesquites, and the festive colors of Mexico. This neighborhood used to be much larger, but was redeveloped as the Tucson Convention Center in the early 1970's. The remaining streets offer an unparalleled glimpse into the past, and it's images have adorned art galleries and postcards all over the world. Barrio Viejo is within walking distance of all major downtown attractions, including the lively nightlife on Congress Street, Tucson Convention Center, and Museum of Contemporary Art. The Cushing Street Bar and Restaurant is just three short blocks away, along with the traditional Mexican fare at El Minuto Cafe. Despite it's central location, Convent Street is very quiet, with minimal traffic and ample, shaded sidewalks. This historic adobe home was built in 1909, and retains much of it's original integrity. The solid mud adobe walls are naturally cool, minimizing the need for the mini-split AC units in every room. The interior is finished in imperial plaster, with rustic beamed ceilings and saltillo tile floors throughout. The kitchen appears original, but was actually installed recently utilizing antique wood and fixtures. The cabinets are all custom made, with plenty of storage for dishes and pantry items. While the appearance is historic, the house has been completely renovated, and features modern electrical, plumbing, and heating/cooling. Outside, a private walled patio provides an outdoor living area, and a wonderful perch from which to enjoy the neighborhood. The lot is long and narrow, with a very deep back yard. There's plenty of room for gardening, as well as private spaces for enjoyment and recreation. 1050 Square feet of living space 1 Bedroom, 1 bath Saltillo Tile floors Street parking only- no driveway High Efficiency Mini-Split Zoned AC Units Indoor washing machine, plus "solar dryer" This house is available for immediate occupancy. $995 due at lease signing.
