The House The house is a big, two story (three counting the attic!) house in inner NE, near the intersection of Rodney and Tillamook. Street parking only. We've got multiple bathrooms, a big kitchen, and an even bigger front porch. We have a pretty, quiet backyard with a fire pit. And we have a washer & drier! We have two cats, but one will be finding a new home sometime in the next few months. We don't want anymore pets, sorry! The Room Rent will be around $350 for one person, and $510 for a couple. The utilities (electric, gas, water, internet) are shared evenly between all housemates. There is also a monthly house fund, which is currently $8 per person. We use that to buy toilet paper, soap, and some food. There is a refundable $300 room/damage deposit. You'll also have to be able to get on the lease, which means solid income and a decent rental, credit, and criminal history. There is a $40 lease application fee. And finally, there is a $20 lease signing fee. We hate to ask all this of you, but it's our landlord's requirement, not ours. So, the move-in expenses are a total of $710 for a single person, and $870 for a couple. The room is available anytime between November 26th and December 1st. If you want to move in during the last bit of November, you'll have to pay a prorated per-day rent for those days. Good news: it's the whole attic, so it's really big! Bad news: it's not insulated, so it's cold in the winter and hot in the summer. There are two windows, one facing east and one facing west. There's carpeting. Anything else you feel is important! :-) The Current Housemates There's five of us right now -- you'll be the new fifth! Here's a little rundown of each of us: Housemate #1 is into riding bikes, community activism, tech stuff, event production, DJing / producing / listening to trance-dance and weird electronic music, has his own internet radio show, and likes fluffy animals. Housemate #2 is into leather, going to kink parties, eating pizza, and reading lazily on the couch. Housemate #3 is into yoga, hanging out, making cool doodles on the white boards, wearing awesome tights, and gettin into trouble. Housemate #4 is into hanging out, drinking tea, and talking about how to mend ourselves, dismantle oppression, and save the world. Also enjoys video games, making posters, Octavia Butler and Ursula Le Guin, day trips to the gorge, and fires in the backyard fire pit. We're all friendly and social, but we don't really hang out much. We'll sometimes make food and watch movies or play video games together, but we mostly do our own thing. That's not something we have a strong preference about or anything -- it's just the current house dynamic.
