The room is open for Sept 1 (early admission is possible). first photos are of the room, second photos are of the apartment itself. This room is $1000 per month, or $3700 for 4 months. What you get: All utilities covered (cable, internet, electricity), in building (free) laundry, possible parkade parking space. Your room is furnished with a refrigerator, bed, partially empty bookshelves, work desk, lamps and more. There is a sliding door directly onto the patio next to the garden. Close to Edmonds Skytrain, various medical walk in clinics as well as dentists offices and all manner of shops (food, clothes, etc) within a pair of blocks. Edmonds Community Centre and Tommy Douglas Library also short walking distance. Kingsway is 1.5 blocks away. Two produce markets, two regular large supermarkets, second hand store, liquor store, much more all available within less than ten minute walk. The apartment was previously built up for a senior who needed help on her feet. Small gym and work out room, rentable rec room w/ small snooker table, sauna all on site. Very good parks, biking trails and more within a few city blocks from the apartment. Backyard of the building is an actual park. No smoking cigarettes outdoors or indoors-- cigarette users must leave the property. There are two non-negotiable requirements: 1) You must be a cat person, as there are 2 [indoor] cats who live here and they are top priority. These cats do not spend time outdoors unattended. If they show discomfort around a person, that person will not live here. Explaining your cat history will help you a lot. 2) This is a Covid Conscious home where masking from the front door of the building until you get into the apartment, or when you go to the laundry or the mail, is required (on our common property, not in our suite). There are no exceptions to this. Please indicate your understanding of these requirements before attempting to set up a viewing. Your room opens up onto our private patio and garden. Squirrels are here constantly; Raccoon family moves through our yard regularly (without bothering the cats). In the winter, it is more barren like Vancouver itself. In the Spring, the trees outside the room are cherry blossoms and will dominate our private outdoor space. In the Summer, the rhododendrons are white and red. Currently the garden is sprouting tomatoes, among other foods. The private area can be used for BBQ's. We have an outdoor ground heater for the winter. There is also a small outdoor freezer for storage. Adjacent dining room, standard kitchen and hallway pantry. Dishwasher in kitchen. The room for rent is furnished-- Adjustments are negotiable if necessary. Major furniture items are not likely to fit. I am a 49 year old male, I currently am in the home most days. I am a social justice oriented writer and historical climate activist who just finished a long term helping elderly family. This home is often filled with the sound of heavy metal, from Black Sabbath and Judas Priest through to Opeth and Meshuggah. This home will never tolerate bigots, including (but not limited to): racists, misogynists, homo/transphobes and/or anti-immigrant sentiments. Islamophobia, anti-Arab discrimination and all forms of antisemitism will not be acceptable for those who wish to live here. I have a strong aversion to: Jordan Peterson followers, anti-vaxxers // anti-maskers, climate deniers and most strange conspiratorial thinking.
