New York City Neighborhood Rent Map (Summer 2019)

Coming ahead of San Jose, Boston, and Washington D.C, New York City ranked as the 2nd most expensive city in the nation last month. One bedroom rent fell 1.3% to $2,940, while two bedrooms grew 2.4% to $3,380.

Manhattan & Bronx

While Concourse Village in the Bronx and Central Harlem in Manhattan had the fastest growing rents on this map since last quarter, up 13% and 7%, respectively, Maspeth in the Bronx and Tribeca in Manhattan took the largest rent dips, both down around 6%.

In Manhattan, Chelsea outpaced Tribeca as the most expensive neighborhood with rent at $4,100 this summer. Garment District, West Village, and Greenwich Village followed as the next priciest areas, all with rentals hovering around the $3,900 threshold. Centrally located but much more affordable rentals could be found in East Village and Lower East Side.

In the Bronx, Mott Haven continued to reign as the most expensive neighborhood with rent at $1,950. Less expensive areas, priced around $1,500, could be found in Morrisania, Woodstock, and Longwood.

Brooklyn

While Brownsville and Clinton Hill had the fastest growing rents in Brooklyn this summer, up 12% and 9%, respectively, Borough Park took the largest rent dip, down over 7%.

Neighboring DUMBO, Vinegar Hill, and Downtown Brooklyn remained the most expensive neighborhoods in Brooklyn this summer, all priced between $3,500 and $4,000. More affordable areas priced closer to the $2,500 threshold could be found in Prospect Heights, Carroll Gardens, and Gowanus.

Meanwhile, the least expensive neighborhoods in this borough were Canarsie ($1,500) and Borough Park ($1,600).
