Just a few more months of winter, folks! Of all cities, Denver has, perhaps, the most things to do in winter. You can head out to some of Colorado’s best cities and hit the slopes, but if you’re looking for another kind of entertainment, we have you covered. Here are some fun events around Denver to help pass the time before spring is (finally) upon us.
2020 Colorado Chinese New Year Celebration
Saturday, January 25th, 2020

Ring in the Year of the Rat with authentic Chinese food, cultural displays, artworks and crafts, calligraphy, entertainment, and traditional costumes. In the afternoon, enjoy the Celebration Show featuring acrobats, magic, music, martial arts, dancing, and more. The largest celebration will move to a new location this year, so catch all the action at The Potters House.
Super Bowl 5K Run & Walk and Kids Fun Run
Sunday, February 2, 2020

If you like football and running, you can find plenty of like-minded people to befriend at the Super Bowl 5K. Bundle up and throw a jersey on over that hoodie, then run a 5K to earn all those nachos and beers you’ll have later. If you’re not keen on running, you can also volunteer for the event by signing up here.
Denver Mardi Gras
Sunday, February 25, 2020

You don’t have to be on Bourbon Street to laissez le bon temps rouler, but you’ll think you’re there as the Exdo Event Center and Tracks Nightclub transform into NoLa’s famed boozy boulevard. This year’s theme is still a surprise, so be on the lookout for the latest updates on the Denver Mardi Gras site. Celebrate Fat Tuesday with 2,000 of your closest friends as you collect beads with a Hurricane in hand. In past years, there’s been live DJs, tarot card readers, face painters, and burlesque shows.
Comedy Shows
January-April, 2020

Lots of great comedians are passing through Comedy Works this winter, including Michelle Wolf, George Lopez, and Iliza Shlesinger. Also, catch the iconic Chris Tucker and Nikki Glaser both live at the Paramount Theatre.
WinterWonderGrass Festival
February 21-23, 2020

We had to include this bluegrass fest even though it’s a few hours away in Steamboat Springs and it’s already sold out. The Jeff Austin Band, Fruition, Railroad Earth, Trampled by Turtles, Billy Strings, and The Infamous Stringdusters are all on the epic mountain music festival’s mainstage this year.
Denver Restaurant Week
February 21-March 1, 2020

Denver Restaurant Week is back for its 16th year! Hundreds of Denver’s top restaurants offer delicious multi-course dinners for three tasty prices: $25, $35, or $45. This is a great excuse to rediscover a long-time favorite or experience a hot new restaurant. Check back later for participating restaurants in Denver’s best neighborhoods.
Cupid’s Undie Run
Saturday, February 22, 2020

If the cold makes you want to strip down to your undies and run, this event is for you! Cupid’s Undie Run kicks off with mingling, music, and drinks to make you more comfortable with showing off your winter bod. When you’re warmed up, you’ll run a mile then come back to party in your undies. It’s all for a good cause, too— the money raised from this “brief” fun run is donated to Cupid’s Charity, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for neurofibromatosis.
Mile High Beer Festival
Saturday, March 21, 2020

Celebrate Colorado craft brews at the annual Mile High Beer Festival, situated in the heart of the River North (RiNo) neighborhood of Denver. There are over 25 breweries— including some of Denver’s hottest ones—sampling more than 100 beers plus food trucks and live music to keep the party going. Go ahead and get tickets – this legendary fest always sells out!
Denver St. Patrick’s Day Parade
March 14th, 2020

Kick-off your St. Paddy’s Day shenanigans at the largest St. Patrick’s Day parade west of the Mississippi, with more than 200,000 people in attendance. Get your fill of corned beef and Guinness at an Irish pub—Scruffy Murphy’s Irish Pub is two blocks off the parade route and opens at 7am! Or, join the lads and lassies for a pint over at The Irish Rover Pub and toast to the luck o’ the Irish!
Whether it’s a comedy show, a beer fest, or cultural celebration, Denver’s winter events will get you out of that pre-spring funk. Search for your next apartment and get ready to celebrate the end of winter in a brand new city.
