Winter 2019 Map: Boston Neighborhood Rent Prices

Coming ahead of Los Angeles, Oakland, and Washington D.C., Boston was the 4th most expensive rental market in the nation with the prices of one and two bedroom units settling at $2,420 and $2,740, respectively.

While Roxbury and Mission Hill had the fastest growing rents last quarter, both up over 10%, Allston saw the biggest rent dip, down over 9%.

Downtown Boston continued to rank as the most expensive neighborhood to rent with one bedrooms priced at $3,050. Chinatown – Leather DistrictSouth Boston Waterfront, and West End followed closely behind as the next priciest areas. More affordable rentals, priced substantially lower than the city median of $2,420, could be found in AllstonDorchester, and Brighton.

Though Mattapan ($1,500) remained the most affordable neighborhood, Hyde Park’s rent ($1,625) dropped below Roslindale’s ($1,700) to rank as the second least expensive in the city.
