One of the most affluent locations in Texas, this extremely wealthy enclave is actually the most affluent area in Dallas and among the top 10 wealthiest communities in the U.S. Known for its quality housing, the neighborhood’s impressively sized houses have a reputation for having some of the most expensive property prices in the Dallas area. The independent municipality draws residents to its leafy avenues with its small-town charms and many parks running along Turtle Creek. For the best grub and drink options in the neighborhood, we’ve got you covered. Here’s where to eat and drink in Highland Park, Dallas.
Eat
Parks Coffee
There’s always a seat available in the colorful Carrollton cafe and roasting facility, Parks Coffee. Bring your laptop and enjoy a fresh cup of coffee and a pastry, or schedule a tour to learn all about the coffee bean.
Great American Hero
Don’t feel like cooking? There’s plenty of take-out available in the area, including the kitschy-looking Great American Hero. “The Best Little Sub Shop in Texas” has been around since 1974, and offers 10 types of bread and fresh-squeezed lemonade.
Henry’s Majestic
Join the locals for Sunday brunch on the (dog-friendly) patio at Henry’s Majestic. There’s something on the Texan-influenced New American menu for everyone—from a PB+J waffle to charred tomatillo chilaquiles—plus a DIY mimosa bar!
Velvet Taco
Soak up the suds after a long night out at Velvet Taco. The funky fast-casual joint makes everything from scratch—from its housemade tortillas to slow-roasted chicken and corn. Choose from over 20 globe-trotting tacos, paired with a beer or a boozy margarita.
Drink
The Honor Bar
Class it up at The Honor Bar, located in the historic Highland Park Village. Enjoy a classic hand-crafted cocktail under the sweeping oak tree on the large outdoor patio, or choose from the extensive list of wines by the glass.
The Old Monk

For beer, head to The Old Monk, a cozy pub with a lively front patio, plus American fare, fish and chips, mussels, and more.
Toulouse Cafe and Bar
See and be seen while you enjoy a mimosa on the patio at Toulouse Cafe and Bar. The French restaurant is reminiscent of a Parisian sidewalk cafe, especially when treat yourself to an order of beignets.
Lounge 31
Impress a first date by taking them for fancy (and expensive) specialty cocktails at Lounge 31. Located above Bistro 31’s this lounge top of Highland Park Village offers a cozy-chic atmosphere, whether you’re seated at the outdoor patio, terrace villa, the Spanish-style Carrera marble bar, or the indoor champagne lounge. If things are going well, you can even share some sushi.
Bonus: Things to Do in Highland Park
Established in 1931, Highland Park Village was the first shopping center of its kind in the US. The upscale retail complex sports Spanish architecture, from its red tile roofs to its ornate fountain. Inside the outdoor mall is an emporium of luxury stores, including Chanel, Christian Dior, Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, Stella McCartney, the largest Ralph Lauren in Texas, and more. Shop artisan cheeses at Molto Formaggio, fresh floral arrangements at Avant Garden, and fancy Italian soaps at LAFCO New York apothecary.
Highland Park Village LOCAL is a seasonal artisan market that the shopping center puts on, featuring live entertainment, a variety of delicious treats, and kids’ activities. Also located in the shopping center is the Highland Park Village Theatre, an elegant and historical multiscreen cinema with a full bar, posh furnishings, and private screening rooms. The Pocket Sandwich Theatre, located nearby on East Mockingbird Ln, puts on “popcorn throwing melodramas,” comedies, and musicals. It also hosts concerts, comedy troupes, stand-up comedy, and even some burlesque.
For live music, head over to the historic art deco Granada Theater. Located in the historic Lower Greenville neighborhood, this award-winning theater has been a Dallas staple since 1946, hosting big acts like Willie Nelson, Adele, Bob Dylan, The Avett Brothers, and ZZ Top, just to name a handful. The intimate venue offers impressive acoustics, sightlines, and lighting as well as a full bar. Highland Park lives up to its name, with several parks along Turtle Creek, including the lush, Lakeside Park, which boasts walking paths, a bridge, and giant teddy bear statues.
Highland Park is also home to the Dallas Country Club. Founded in 1896, the 117.5-acre social club boasts magnificent views of Turtle Creek and the downtown Dallas skyline. Membership for the private, full-service, family-oriented club is by invitation only.
