The Zumper DC Metro Area Report analyzed active listings in August 2019 across 11 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The DC one bedroom median rent was $1,546 last month.

–Washington D.C was the most expensive city with one bedrooms priced at $2,290.

–Alexandria rent dropped 1.6% last month to $1,800 and ranked as the second priciest city.

–Herndon was third with rent priced at $1,720.

-Hagerstown ranked as the most affordable city with one bedrooms priced at $720.

–Fredericksburg was second with rent at $1,140.

-Frederick ranked as third with rent flat at $1,290.

–Hagerstown had the fastest growing rent, up 10.8% since this time last year.

–Gaithersburg saw rent climb 8.1%, making it the second fastest growing.

–Fairfax was third with rent growing 6.4%

–Herndon rent jumped 3.0% last month, making it the second fastest growing.

–Gaithersburg ranked as third with rent up 2.1%.
