The Zumper D.C. Metro Report analyzed active listings in February 2019 across 8 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The state median one bedroom rent was $1,497.

Cities Ranked By Rent

Le plus cher

Bethesda, MD rent dropped $30 to $2,260 but continued to rank as the most expensive in the metro.

Reston, VA stayed the second priciest with rent at $2,200.

Washington D.C. was third with one bedrooms priced at $2,150.

Frederick, MD remained the most affordable city with rent at $1,190.

Silver Spring, MD & Alexandria, VA rents tied for the second least expensive, both at $1,690.

Rockville, MD ranked as third with rent at $1,740.

Growth Rate

Reston, VA continued to have the largest year over year rental growth rate, up 10.6%.

Bethesda, MD saw rent climb 7.6%, making it the second fastest growing.
