The Zumper D.C. Metro Report analyzed active listings in May 2019 across 8 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The state median one bedroom rent was $1,510.

Cities Ranked By Rent

Le plus cher

Arlington, VA held on steady as the most expensive city with rent growing another $80 to $2,340.

Reston, VA was second with rent at $2,220.

Washington D.C followed closely behind as third with one bedrooms priced at $2,210.

Frederick, MD saw rent grow $30 to $1,300 but remain the most affordable city.

Silver Spring, MD remained the second least expensive city with rent at $1,720.

Rockville, MD was third with rent at $1,740.

Growth Rate

Reston, VA had the fastest growing rent, up 11% since this time last year.

Bethesda, MD was second with rent climbing 9.5%.

Arlington, VA saw rent jump 8.3%, making it third.

Silver Spring, MD was the only city with a large monthly rental growth rate, up 4.9%.
