The Zumper DC Metro Area Report analyzed active listings in December 2019 across 12 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The DC one bedroom median rent was $1,974 last month.

–Washington D.C was the most expensive city with one bedrooms priced at $2,260.

–Alexandria rent increased 0.6% to $1,810 and ranked as the second priciest city.

–Rockville was third with rent at $1,720.

–Hagerstown ranked as the most affordable city with one bedrooms priced at $650.

–Fredericksburg rent grew 1.8% to $1,140 and ranked as the second least expensive.

–Winchester ranked as third with rent at $1,190.

–Winchester had the fastest growing rent, up 15.5% since this time last year.

–Washington saw rent climb 7.6%, making it the second fastest growing.

–Gaithersburg was third with rent increasing 3.5%.
