The Zumper D.C. Metro Report analyzed active listings in January 2019 across 8 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The state median one bedroom rent was $1,498.

Cities Ranked By Rent

Le plus cher

Bethesda, MD rent dropped $10 $2,290 but remained the priciest in the metro.

Reston, VA was the second most expensive with rent at $2,180.

Washington D.C. moved up one spot, and past Arlington, to rank in the top 3 markets again with rent growing $30 to $2,130.

Frederick, MD saw rent decrease $10 to $1,190 and continue to rank as the most affordable city.

Silver Spring, MD rent was the second least expensive at $1,630.

Alexandria, VA dropped below Rockville to rank in the cheapest 3 markets with rent falling $20 to $1,750.

Bethesda, MD rent had the second largest year over year growth rate, climbing 8%.
