This December, San Diego maintained its spot as the 11th most expensive rental market in the nation, despite seeing a slight decline in prices across the city. One bedrooms decreased 2.2% to a median of $1,500, while two bedrooms decreased 3.3% to a median of $2,030. Though down in the near term, prices year over year have increased 4.9% and 12.8% for one and two bedrooms, respectively.

The most expensive neighborhoods this winter, all surrounding San Diego Bay, include Coronado ($2,800), East Village ($2,200), and Little Italy ($2,140). If you want to live by the water but cannot pay over $2,100 in rent, Midway District ($1,380) and Roseville – Fleet Ridge ($1,200) are two cheaper options in the area. Some more affordable neighborhoods including Mount Hope, Chollas View, and Emerald Hills, can be found in the lower east portion of the city.
