See How Much Austin Spent On Rent This March

This week, we’re taking a closer look at Austin’s median rent prices. In our latest national rent report, Austin ranked as the 21st most expensive rental market in the US, with rent appreciation across both one and two-bedroom apartments. While one-beds increased 3% in the trailing quarter to $1,030, two-beds jumped at a slightly faster rate, up 0.7% in March and 6.2% in the quarter, to $1,380.

At a neighborhood level, Downtown Austin apartments had the highest rent, with a median one bedroom of $1,913, significantly higher than the rest of the city. Second was East Cesar Chavez at $1,589, followed by Central East Austin at $1,575. Zilker remained close behind at $1,500, with further appreciation expected as apartment complexes continue to populate the area.
Near-campus areas like the West University ($985) and University of Texas-Austin ($990) claimed the lowest median rent prices closest to Downtown.
