Although rent prices in San Francisco remained fairly flat last month, this city still continued to hold onto its rank as the most expensive city to rent in the nation. However, the last few months marked a trend of steady decline in prices. Since this time last year, the price of one bedroom units is down nearly 9%.
South Beach and Pacific Heights were tied for the most expensive neighborhood to rent this spring, both with a median rent of $3,750. Mission Dolores ($3,680), Russian Hill ($3,650), and SOMA ($3,650) were the next priciest areas. More affordable rentals, priced at less than $2,900, could be found in Lone Mountain, Inner Sunset, and Lakeshore.
Presidio Heights – Laurel Heights and Outer Mission – Excelsior had some of the fastest growing rents, both up around 5% since last quarter.
